Ask is the cited Q&A surface for indexed footage. Use it to understand a source, explore story ideas, and locate supporting moments. Use Search to validate and collect the actual clips.

Ask from the right sources

1. Start a new thread or reopen earlier research.
2. Open the source selector and choose the smallest set that can answer the question.
3. Ask one source-answerable question.
4. Read the response, but treat it as a research draft until citations are checked.
5. Use follow-up questions to clarify the angle or request a Produce-ready brief.

Verify citations in context

Select a citation to open the supporting video near the cited statement. Confirm that the footage supports the nearby claim. Check the spoken words, visible action, source title, and time range before using the answer in an edit.

Explore an idea and prepare Produce

Ask can help an editor move from research to a draft plan. For example:

Using only the selected sources, propose a 30-second teaser concept.
List the supporting source moments with citations, explain the purpose of each
moment, and finish with a concise prompt I can use in Produce.
Do not add people, events, or dialogue that are not supported by the footage.

Review the proposed moments, ask follow-up questions when evidence is weak, and then search for each verified moment. Save useful clips to a Working Set.
