Entities
Entities is the people registry for the active index. A record combines a name, optional tags, and reference photos so Search can look for that person in indexed footage.
Add a record
- Confirm the active index.
- Open Entities and select Add entity.
- Enter a name that editors will recognize.
- Add clear reference photos and optional tags.
- Enable retro-resolve only when the person should be matched against existing indexed footage.
- Select Add entity once the form is complete.
Use one person per image. Prefer two to five sharp photos with different angles or expressions. Do not upload images you are not allowed to process.
Wait for Ready
A new entity can show Processing while Composer prepares the photos. This is normal. Do not create a duplicate record just because the first one is not ready.
Use the detail view to check the current status, reference-photo gallery, and related videos. Entity readiness is separate from source indexing; a source can be ready while an entity is still processing.
Use an entity in Search
- Wait until the entity is Ready.
- Open Search moment and choose the smallest relevant source set.
- Use the entity control or an @ mention.
- Play and verify every returned match before saving it.
Entity matching is a discovery aid, not proof of identity. Similar faces, motion blur, profile views, and lighting changes can produce missed or incorrect matches.
Maintain records
Use Edit to correct names or tags and Add photos when better reference angles become available. Keep one record per person. Delete only when the record is genuinely unwanted, because removal affects future entity-assisted workflows.
